In medieaval times emminent scholars used to propose theories as to the wing span of angels. This, along with J M Barrie pops into my mind as I try to begin this article.
Fairy dust, flying, magic, and the power of belief, thats what its about essentially, and thats what I'm about, and what my t-girl friends are about too. This article is short, and I and they (my 'Trollettes'!) have a lot to tell you...so here we go! I'm Eleanor Bennet, and recently I released my single ' We Wipe Bums!' at a launch party in the Leicester Square Theatre (see piccies!) The occasion was enjoyed by all, and most deservedly by my t-girl friends who have helped me so much with this and with other projects too. 'We Wipe Bums!' (available from Amazon and i-tunes) comes from my one woman show 'Off her Trolley,' and both song and show are a blend of stand up, character and song, but it raises some serious issues too. I've had a lot of good reviews, and the show has been to Edinburgh, toured London, and now I'm taking it to other parts of the UK too. But it remains that a lot of entertainment professionals are frightened of anything to do with Alzheimers disease, and are frightened to interview a new face too, they want tried, tested, and controversial only if presented by someone well known. This is why I need my friends, both to believe in me and also to help get across the fact that despite the serious issues, the show touches on, that its funny too, and so far its been my t-girl friends that have been happy to help. Happy to help was the theme of the last photoshoot, and that was the start, next was the launch, and now the 'Trollettes' and I want to take the club scene by storm, there are plans afoot for a music vid' too! After that we have the Guinness World Record attempt! My claim is for 'The tallest toilet roll tower.' and after that we will have the preview of the new show! So I expect you will see us soon at the 'Way Out,' perhaps (fingers crossed!) on Eurotrash, and I daresay on the local news come springtime when we do the Guinness thing down in Berkshire. It really is a lot of fun, and the day of the shoot was great, we all had a giggle with the group shots, and at one point nearly collapsed in a heap as I was lifted up like a starlet (which I am!) and nearly took Jans eyes out with my elbow! Behind all the fun though there is a lot of hard work and still so much more to be done. Sales profits from 'We Wipe Bums' are going to the Alzheimers Society, and the toilet roll tower and other Trollette activities are to promote this single and thus to further their cause. Next years show and its songs are to help them too. |
